Our Background
Relief and Development Support Organization (RDSO) is a National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) founded on 12th December 2021 and recognized by RGB under No 1085/RGB/NGO/OC/08/2022. It operates in the Eastern Province, Kayonza District, in Mukarange sector and can scale up its activities in any other district.
To align with the SDGs goals and implement the NST2 country programs, RDSO conducts community need assessment on annual basis to make people's development a priority. To achieve this, it works with its members who have an extensive experience in community development and partners such as Go Volunteer Africa that sends volunteers from abroad, the African Cultural Exchange, The Cause and Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI). We focus on capacity building of youth, women, and support the most vulnerable groups to bring positive changes in their lives.

Making a tangible difference in the communities we serve
- We conducted a community needs assessment in Mukarange sector to identity community needs to be tackled as a priority. We found a great need of medical insurance fees and serious cases of shelters.
- RDSO Legal Representative attended the african cultural exchange conference held in Senegal and the Gambia from 10th to 18th May 2022.
- The West African team, Dr. Hughes from the USA and RDSO Legal Representative visited Gorée Island and Kunta Kinte historic sites for slave trade for a learning tour.
- We supported 131 people from Kayonza cell, grouped in 30 households with medical insurance fees from 2022-2024.
- We are constructing 2 toilets and 1 kitchen for 2 poor families in Nyagatovu cell.
- We provided 40 goats to 40 families to help them improve their household income.
- We supported 25 students with school fees, school feeding, scholastic materials and vocational training fees.
- We provided sport equipment (balls, nets, demarcatons, vests, pump, whistle) to Orpcare nursery, primary and secondary school; GS Mukarange, GS Kabungo and Kayonza youth Centre.
- We provided training on financial education, digital literacy, Sexual reproduction Health and rights, English, Entrepreneurship to 282 youth in Kayonza.
- We constructed 11 model kitchen gardens in Nyagatovu cell.
- Through our partnership with Go Volunteer Africa, RDSO hosted a Medical Doctor in Urological Surgery from 9th December to 21st December 2024 to support Rwamagana Hospital. During his stay, he immensely handled very critical cases.
